Josefa Da Silva talks about how Accra Fashion Week took her to the next level

The just ended Accra fashion week featured a host of Foreign and local designers, one of the designers who wowed us with her designs was Josefa da Silva. Inspired by her African roots, Cape Verdean-born fashion designer and stylist Josefa Da Silva is stamping her global brand on fashion forward women’s wear and accessories that celebrate the essence of her rich heritage through the use of traditional, luxury fabrics; skins and prints, etc. josefa-da-silva-accra-fashion-week-2016-27josefa1josefa2

She Opened the show at 12 o’clock midday, being it a week day and at the particular time it didn’t prevent her audience from showing up. The auditorium was fully packed before her show commenced. Among this audience was Celebrities like Okyeame Kwame and Nana Ekua Addo who are highly commended locally for their high fashion sense.

Few days after Josefa left Ghana she discloses to us that her participation in Accra Fashion week has given her some extra fame and increased her fan base on her social media from a 4k followers to over 10k followers, though it was the 1st edition it caught the attention of both local and foreign media like AFP, dailymail.co.uk, MSN, Yahoon News, Getty Images, wwd.com etc.

As the Josefa Da Silva brand expands, so do her accomplishments and opportunities, she has designed for Miss Universe (Leila Lopes) she aslo design for countless numbers of celebrities all over the African continent as well as Europe, creating an accessory line for Dillard’s Incorporated department stores; producing an eco-friendly jewelry line for the Smithsonian museum stores; designing the uniforms for the Walton Family Museum (Crystal Bridges); serving as the Cheerios’ ambassador for the Shoprite Partners in Caring “Knock Out Hunger” campaign; and contributing her time and talents to countless charitable and philanthropic endeavors.
