2016 Event

GENERAL:

In 2016, the nation of Ghana would prepare to see over 60 models walk the runway in some of the latest and hottest trends to ever hit the runway. There will be fashion goodies, offers, sales, and networking opportunities for all those within the industry.

Accra Fashion Week 2016 is the most talked about fashion event in Accra, and soon to be that of Africa. The event is set to host designers from Mozambique, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Angola, South Africa, Nigeria, Netherlands, UK, USA and more.

‘From Batik 2 Boutique’ is the theme behind our 2016 event and might be that of ’17 & ’18. The purpose is to ensure our boutiques and fashion stores begin to stock clothes by our own Ghanaian fashion brands, as well as our designers support our home made batiks. Accra Fashion Week is set to make changes to our current trends by influencing our fashion antics from the batiks our designers use to the boutiques we buy our clothes from. Which inturn will help create our industry with employment

LOCATION & VENUE:

The Ghana Trade Fair Center is the largest fairground located in La in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. The Trade Fair Center was built in 1967 and it was started by Ghana’s first President Dr.Kwame Nkrumah. The Center lies on a 127-acre land it has shops, exhibition halls, clinics and stands. There are three major Pavilions, Pavilion A, Pavilion B and the Mobile Pavilion. All of which will serve the purpose of hosting Accra Fashion Week activities.

The Trade Fair Center has hosted numerous events both local and international. These include Trade Fairs, musical concerts, and this year in 2016, it will make history by hosting its first Fashion Week.

SET UP

At Accra Fashion Week, will host your best fashion experience ever. In order to do this we aim to maximize our use of the Trade Fair venue with shows being executed in both Pavilions as well as exhibitions being hosted in the mobile pavilion.

Do note the lawn will be decorated will our designer exhibitions introducing our fashionistas to the amazing talents of Africa.

fG FUTCHA Fashion is an exclusive segment to bring to light new fashion creatives styles and designs in Ghana. Ghanaian fashion is very young, and Most of our hailed established brands rose to fame in a short period of time such as 1-2 years. The next designers to take charge of our fashion trends could only be a year away from being discovered.

And therefore AFWk ltd has created a platform that will give an opportunity to young aspiring designers to showcase to the world their plans, their story and their ambitions.

This might be the far most important segment of Accra Fashion Week 2016. Most established international designers who have changed the course of Fashion in the mainstream world were once the underdogs working for known brands or showcasing as such platforms for young designers.

So we are more than pleased so welcome our nation to support and do their best to attend the fG FUTCHA Fashion shows to give the utmost support to the young designers of Africa who are soon to set the pace of fashion around the world.

BENEFITS: fG FUTCH Fashion is not a designer competition, however there will be prizes offered to the best designers, based upon staff at AFWk ltd, FashionGHANA.com and the attending audience. These prices include a cash prize (to be determined), a chance to showcase at Ecowas Fashion Week & Africa International Fashion Week. And a full look sponsored by PZ Kapture photography. The photographer responsible for all our campaign images.

Despite winning or not winning, all young designers will get the chance to be profiled on our website whilst getting full coverage of their participation in both pictures and video for future reference. All designers will also be interviewed and have their shows featured in FashionGHANA.com and all other supporting press.
