Ghana – BW Haute Couture Biography
BW Haute Couture was founded by Boatema Wiredu. At age 15 is when she discovered her passion for arts. She studied fashion designing for 3 years at Accra Polytechnic and was awarded a Higher National Diploma (HND). She then took her internship at Da Viva where she was giving the opportunity to be involved in a wide range cutting edge designs portraying the colours that reflects the beauty of the bubbling African fabrics.
After a year, She enrolled for an intensive one-year study at Vogue Style School of Fashion & Design (now as ‘Joyce Ababio College of Fashion Design’) and received a certificate in fashion designing in 2012. Whiles at the college, she had a hand-on training including fashion designing, pattern drafting, clothing and construction, colour & design, fashion illustration and business management. As an award winning student, she also accepted an offer as a Teaching Assistant for six months at the same college in 2012.
In accomplishment, she now owns and runs the well known BW Haute Couture line since 2014. She represented Ghana in the 2016 annual Festival International De La Mode African (FIMA) fashion contest in Niger and was crown the first runners-up. The contest targeted young and talented fashion designers across Africa. She has since then expanded her brand via various fashion exhibitions including the recent 2017 fashion week in Kumasi, Ghana.
Her career path is to own a world class fashion house and establish a fashion school where the idea of imaginary and creativity, as well as knowledge of current fashion trends, are taught in order to instil in the upcoming designers a great touch of innovation.
